Responsibilities include signaling equipment, leveling, finishing concrete, assembling components, and performing maintenance on tools. Travel to different sites may be required; a high school diploma or GED is required with up to 12 months of related construction experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required, 0–12 months construction experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.
  • Basic arithmetic and unit/weight/volume calculations.
  • Understanding of basic electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete safety documentation.
  • Signal operators for equipment alignment and movement.
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications with hand tools.
  • Finish concrete surfaces with float, trowel, or screed.
  • Install/convey pumps, motors, and related components.
  • Apply caulking to seal crevices.
  • Operate grinders or polishers for surfaces.
  • Assemble metal parts and bolt connections.
  • Dismantle forms and perform demolitions as needed.
  • Possibly travel to multiple job sites on short notice.

Position Scope

Responsible for assisting with other craft workers in physical labor on jobsites while maintaining a clean, safe and efficient construction site and supporting the overall project.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Complete all required Safety documentation
  • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and
  • adjustment of machinery to load, offload, push and pull
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications using shovel or other hand tool
  • Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete using float, trowel or screed
  • Position, join, align and connect pumps, motors and other mechanical or metal parts
  • Apply caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices
  • Grind, sand or polish surfaces such as concrete and steel, using abrasive tools or
  • machines
  • Perform tasks involving use of hands and tools such as torquing/tensioning bolts and
  • studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber,
  • dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, and demolitions, cleanup, use of
  • jackhammers, etc.
  • May be required to install electrical conduit and grounding as well as pull wire through conduit and make wire connections on substation equipment
  • Perform care and maintenance of assigned tools
  • Perform substation labor on construction sites
  • May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
  • Other duties as assigned
Education And Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and zero to twelve months of related experience in construction
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be
  • affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for
  • working toward Safety principles
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to
  • perform these operations using units, weight measurement and volume
  • Understanding of Basic Electrical Systems
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
