Position Scope
Responsible for assisting other craft workers in physical labor on jobsites while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient construction site and supporting the overall project.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Promote and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Complete all required safety documentation.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to load, offload, push, and pull.
- Level earth to fine grade specifications using a shovel or other hand tool.
- Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete using float, trowel, or screed.
- Position, join, align, and connect pumps, motors, and other mechanical or metal parts.
- Apply caulking compounds by hand or with a caulking gun to seal crevices.
- Grind, sand, or polish surfaces such as concrete and steel using abrasive tools or machines.
- Perform tasks involving hands and tools such as torquing/tensioning bolts and studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, demolitions, cleanup, and use of jackhammers.
- May be required to install electrical conduit and grounding, pull wire through conduit, and make wire connections on substation equipment.
- Perform care and maintenance of assigned tools.
- Perform substation labor on construction sites.
- May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education And Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and zero to twelve months of related construction experience.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety; take personal responsibility for working toward safety principles.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) involving two‐digit numbers, tens, and hundreds; apply units, weight, and volume measurements.
- Understand basic electrical systems.
- Use common sense to carry out written or oral instructions.
- Work within precise accuracy standards and follow set procedures and specifications.
