Job summary

Amazon Leo is building a security-focused R&D team to defend the constellation’s infrastructure. You will develop models that basel ine unusual activity using diverse telemetry, from factory data to ground stations, while preserving privacy and ensuring production readiness.

The role emphasizes publishing rigorous analyses, evaluating detections against threat actors, and shipping components that integrate with the Leo security platform.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree with 4+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field.
• Fluency in Python; systems language like Rust or C++ a plus.
• Experience with statistical modeling and analysis of large, heterogeneous datasets (anomaly detection, time-series, behavioral baselining).
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).

Responsibilities

• Build behavioral and statistical models that baseline normal activity across heterogeneous security telemetry.
• Design privacy-preserving representations of sensitive security data and verify model accuracy on real data.
• Define methodology and own analysis for difficult, loosely defined problems across data sources.
• Develop metrics and evaluation frameworks for model performance against threat actor behavior.
• Contribute to neurosymbolic reasoning platform and ship components to production quality.
• Document work rigorously and communicate results to scientific and security audiences.
