Job summary

SimVentions seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD Dahlgren, VA SLBM team for on-site testing and verification. You will design automated tests, tie them to requirements, and engage with developers and government customers daily.

The role requires 2+ years in applied math/physics and 1+ years in software testing, with Linux proficiency and experience in DOORS, Jira, Azure DevOps, and Git. U.S. citizenship and on-site work at NSWC-Dahlgren are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code
• Experience using Linux systems
• Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
• Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation
