Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD Dahlgren on-site team. You will design, execute, and automate tests tied to requirements, collaborating with developers and government customers to resolve defects while maintaining traceability and rigorous documentation.

The role demands 2+ years in applied math/physics, 1+ years in software testing, Linux proficiency, and strong communication. U.S. citizenship and on-site presence are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities.
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily.
