Job summary

HDR is building internal AI capabilities to scale across the Transportation Business Group. The Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement will design, develop, and deploy AI solutions, data pipelines, and reusable components. Early focus is internal, with a transition to client-facing advisory work as capabilities mature.

The role emphasizes collaboration with IT, data architects, and stakeholders, plus ongoing learning and capability improvements within HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Degree in a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years experience with data engineering tools and languages such as SQL, Power Query, and Pandas.
• 3+ years experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, and Matplotlib.
• 3+ years experience with data science languages such as Python and R.
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal AI capabilities and scalable data pipelines.
• Identify data, tooling, and process bottlenecks and propose improvements.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to translate problems into AI solutions.
• Future client-facing AI delivery and advisory work leveraging internal capabilities.
