Job summary

HDR is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement to build internal AI capabilities within HDR’s Transportation Business Group. The role evolves from internal solution development to client-facing AI delivery and advisory work as capabilities mature.

Key duties include designing, deploying, and monitoring AI solutions, addressing data and tooling bottlenecks, and communicating complex AI concepts to varied audiences. This is an employee-owned role within HDR's inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• A degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years experience with data engineering tools and languages (SQL, Power Query, Pandas).
• Minimum 3 years experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib).
• Minimum 3 years experience with data science languages (Python, R).
• Experience delivering end-to-end data science projects and model lifecycles.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions for internal transportation needs.
• Build reusable AI components, data pipelines, and scalable workflows.
• Manage full model lifecycle: development, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retraining, inference.
• Identify data, system, and tooling bottlenecks and propose scalable improvements.
• Collaborate with IT, data architects, and stakeholders to translate problems into AI solutions.
• Support future client pursuits and evolve repeatable AI services.
