Job summary

HDR is seeking an Applied Data Scientist – AI Enablement to build internal AI capabilities and remove bottlenecks across HDR’s Transportation Business Group. The role starts internally, develops AI solutions, data foundations, and bottleneck analysis, with progression toward client-facing advisory and repeatable services.

The position emphasizes internal development 40%, client delivery as capabilities mature, and ongoing learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with data engineering tools and languages (SQL, Power Query, Pandas).
• At least 3 years with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Plotly, Seaborn, Matplotlib).
• At least 3 years with data science languages (Python and R).
• Experience in end-to-end data science projects and model lifecycles.
• Strong writing, communication, and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions addressing internal transportation needs.
• Build reusable AI components and data pipelines scalable for client delivery.
• Manage full model lifecycle: development, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, retraining.
• Proactively identify data, tooling, governance bottlenecks and propose scalable improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate problems into AI solutions and communicate concepts clearly.
• Support future client pursuits and contribute to repeatable AI services.
