Job summary

Teichert is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy AI agents and applications supporting construction and materials workflows. You will evaluate LLMs and agent patterns, architect reasoning chains, and lead governance of AI agents and skills across the Data & Technology Solutions organization.

The role focuses on cross-functional collaboration, production-grade code, and translating business problems into AI designs for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Master’s degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, or similar role.
• Experience building and deploying agentic AI and production apps on large language models.
• Experience in asset-intensive industries like construction, mining, energy, transportation, or manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and deploys AI agents and applications for construction and materials workflows.
• Evaluates LLMs and foundation models based on accuracy, cost, latency, and vendor sustainability.
• Architects reasoning chains, tool use, retrieval-augmented generation, and error handling; builds evaluation frameworks.
• Leads governance of AI agents and skills with risk review and lifecycle management.
• Partners with data engineering to integrate AI capabilities into Teichert’s data platform.
• Mentors junior engineers on agent design and evaluation practices.
