Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer for the Agent Enablement team in San Francisco. The role is a hands-on, partner-facing engineering position designing and operating agent integrations across web apps, APIs, MCP servers, and developer tools.

You will lead technical engagements with partners, craft secure, production-ready integrations, and collaborate across product, security, and policy teams. Hybrid work with relocation support is provided.

Qualifications

4–6 years of professional software engineering or AI engineering experience.
Customer or partner-facing experience in scoping projects and MVPs.
Experience building/operating production full-stack products, APIs, or developer platforms.

Responsibilities

Own the technical partner journey for priority agent enablement integrations from use-case selection to rollout.
Implement browser sign-in, OAuth, and account-linking paths with clear user journeys and safe fallbacks.
Write production and sample code, build reference implementations, and create integration guidance and tooling.
Debug identity and agent workflows end to end across UI, redirects, tokens, and latency.
Review partner architectures for API contracts, scopes, consent, and data privacy.
Conduct evaluations, staged rollouts, and post-launch investigations to drive durable improvements.
Contribute improvements to OpenAI platforms including identity protocols, APIs, SDKs, and developer guidance.
Collaborate with product, engineering, design, partnerships, and legal to ensure smooth launches.
Translate partner feedback into concrete technical plans and platform requirements.
