Job summary

Clayco is seeking an experienced AI Applications Engineer to build governed AI tools used by colleagues across our projects. You will create retrieval over internal knowledge bases and project history, turning domain concepts into practical boundaries for production use.

You will set prompt and context engineering standards, work with engineers on real tasks, and ensure solutions are scalable and well-supported within Clayco's framework. Travel is required for this role.

Qualifications

• Shipped AI tools in production used by real users.
• Experience with retrieval over knowledge bases and docs.
• Strong prompt/context engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to model domain boundaries into retrieval limits.
• Comfort collaborating with engineers and project teams.
• Nice to have: construction/AEC background, Snowflake Cortex, n8n, document extraction at scale.

Responsibilities

• Build governed AI applications used by Clayco employees.
• Develop retrieval over internal knowledge resources and project history.
• Translate domain concepts into practical retrieval boundaries.
• Evaluate AI approaches against real Clayco work, not benchmarks.
• Set standards for prompts and context used by engineers.
• Integrate tools within Clayco's agent registry and identity model.
