Groundswell is seeking an engineer to transform incomplete business needs into working software, with a hands-on, client-facing role. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated ability.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on with LLMs: prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation, structured extraction, or tool use.
• Experience building AI-enabled apps with APIs, data handling, and user-facing UX.
• Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, or SQL and API integration.
• Ability to discuss requirements with non-technical stakeholders and propose approaches.
• Willingness to challenge designs and justify alternatives.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous requirements with guidance and deliver.
• Clear written and verbal communication; documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Take defined technical approaches and productionize functionality.
• Lead requirements discussions with business stakeholders and refine needs.
• Contribute design ideas to simplify solutions and adjust AI scope.
• Build full apps integrating AI capabilities, prompts, retrieval, and APIs.
• Create evaluation sets and report results, including inconclusive findings.
• Investigate failures, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
• Support client demonstrations and proofs-of-concept.
• Ask thoughtful questions to deepen client understanding and needs.
• Document work with logging, validation, and known limitations.
• Move between client delivery, internal product work, and enablement as needed.
