Groundswell is seeking an engineer to take a technical approach from an incompletely defined business need and deliver working software. This hands‑on, client‑facing role will partner with business stakeholders to refine requirements and build solutions, often involving AI capabilities, prompts, APIs, and data handling.

You will move between client delivery, internal product work, rapid proofs of concept, and internal enablement, ensuring clear communication and robust documentation. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent demonstration of ability.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience building applications that integrate large language models, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction, and/or tool use.
• Experience contributing to applications that integrate AI capabilities with APIs, data handling, and user-facing functionality.

Responsibilities

• Take a defined technical approach and build production‑quality functionality.
• Participate in requirements discussions with business stakeholders to understand workflow, business need, and outcome.
• Contribute to solution design and identify opportunities to simplify the solution or reduce AI components where appropriate.
• Build applications that integrate AI capabilities with prompts, retrieval design, structured outputs, API integration, data handling, and user-facing features.
• Measure results against evaluation sets and report findings honestly, including negative results.
• Investigate failures, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
• Support client demonstrations and proof‑of‑concepts to illustrate AI applications.
