Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or related discipline.
• Lab skills in food applications, including weighing, mixing, sampling, testing, and record-keeping.
• Experience or interest in R&D and new product development.
• Ability to support troubleshooting and provide technical information.
• Familiarity with GMP, HACCP and food safety practices.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and project management.
• Knowledge of sensory evaluation methods.

Role Description

The Applications Technologist I - Beverage & Dairy role is a full-time, on-site position based in Illinois, United States. This role focuses on developing, preparing, and testing beverage and dairy applications using Silesia’s flavor portfolio, following project briefs and customer specifications. Day-to-day activities include conducting lab-scale formulation trials, evaluating sensory and physical properties, documenting results, and assisting in the optimization of flavor systems for target products. The technologist collaborates closely with R&D, sales, and production teams to support customer presentations, sample preparation, and technical troubleshooting. The position also involves maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with food safety and quality standards, and participating in continuous improvement of application processes.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Food Science and Food Technology, with the ability to apply principles to beverage and dairy formulation.


• Laboratory skills in food applications, including weighing, mixing, sample preparation, testing, and accurate record-keeping.


• Experience or interest in Research and Development (R&D), such as conducting application trials, analyzing results, and contributing to new product development.


• Technical support capabilities, including addressing internal and customer inquiries, assisting with troubleshooting, and supporting sales with technical information.


• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).


• Knowledge of basic sensory evaluation methods and quality standards in the food and beverage industry.


• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.


• Familiarity with regulatory and food safety requirements (e.g., GMP, HACCP) is beneficial; prior experience in flavor or beverage/dairy applications is a plus.
