Job summary

BOS Innovations in Lexington, KY is seeking an Applications Engineering Specialist to translate customer needs into practical automation concepts and professionally packaged quotations that win new business.

You will review customer requirements, analyze existing production processes, and design mechanical concepts and station-level solutions, including estimated BOMs, that are efficient, effective, and aligned with customer standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, mechanical design, automation, systems integration, or custom machinery.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks with experience developing mechanical concepts, layouts, and estimated bills of materials (BOMs) for automation projects.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, manufacturing processes, and custom machine design.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites for application reviews, quote presentations and project kick-offs.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Sales processes to create quotations and win business for BOS.
• Develop mechanical design concepts and estimated BOMs at cell and station levels.
• Coordinate with customer technical counterparts to understand needs and build strong relationships.
• Support costing and budgeting for quotes and present concepts to customers.
• Lead collaboration with BOS engineering when additional support is required.
• Assist in improving standards, tools, and processes within the team.
