Job summary

TGW Logistics is seeking an Applications Engineer to collaborate with Solutions Engineering and the local sales team. You will design mechatronic material handling layouts, select products based on requirements, and prepare technical content for sales proposals.

You will present concepts in customer meetings, perform performance calculations, and develop detailed cost quotations. This role involves traveling for training and client support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
• Prior applications engineering experience in materials handling preferred.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Preferred skills: AutoCAD (2D), SketchUp or other 3D design software.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 15% for training and customer support.

Responsibilities

• Design and create mechatronic material handling layouts from concept to final contract design using TGW portfolio and third-party equipment.
• Present and develop concepts during customer meetings to create optimized solutions.
• Perform performance calculations to ensure equipment meets target rates.
• Create mechanical costing quotations for concept and final contract value.
• Provide equipment functionality reports to sales and support proposals.
• Act as a technical liaison to sales teams, suppliers, and customers.

The Applications Engineer works closely with the Solutions Engineering team to create customized material handling solutions for our customers. This creative role supports the local sales team from the first customer contact to the last bidding presentation, providing expertise in the mechatronic capabilities of the TGW product portfolio. Responsibilities include drawing the system layouts in both 3D and 2D CAD, product selection based on requirements, presenting designs to customers and preparing technical content for sales proposals.

What you’ll be handling

• Design and creation of the mechatronic material handling layouts through collaboration with solutions team, from initial concept to final contract design, using the TGW product portfolio and 3rd party equipment.
• Present and develop concepts during customer meetings and internal discussions to create optimized solutions that best fit the customer requirements.
• Use engineering knowledge to perform performance calculations for the system to ensure that the selected equipment meets the specified target rates.
• Create mechanical costing quotation for both high level concept indications and final contract value to be rolled up into a total system pricing.
• Provides equipment functionality and capability reports to sales force; participates actively with system architects and sales associates to support and develop sales proposals.
• Acts as a technical liaison to the sales team, suppliers, and customers and suppliers.

What you’ll need

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
• Prior applications engineering experience in materials handling environment preferred.
• Proficient in Excel, MSWord, PowerPoint.
• Preferred skills: AutoCAD (2D), Sketchup or other 3D Design Software.
• Willingness to travel domestically (less than 10%) and internationally (one-time training, and one-time visit every other year after) up to 15% for training and customer support along with a mandatory 12- 16 week training course in Austria.
