The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is seeking two Application Systems Analysts II to join our Technical Services Unit. You will support, enhance, and optimize enterprise applications, serve as a technical resource, and work on web and database services while ensuring data security and system reliability.

This role requires strong SQL Server expertise, C#/.NET/ASP.NET skills, and experience with modern data workflows.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database management using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Proficiency with C#/.NET and the ASP.NET framework
  • Proficiency with Entity Framework Core and LINQ
  • Proficiency with jQuery for AJAX web-service calls
  • CSS experience for web UI
  • PowerShell for data workflows
  • Experience with Drupal and the LAMP development stack
  • Understanding of WAI and WCAG principles and compliance

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource for assigned application and systems-development initiatives
  • Configure, maintain, and support application services, including web and database servers
  • Diagnose and resolve application and system failures
  • Provide user support for internally developed enterprise applications
  • Ensure compliance with data-security requirements for internally developed applications and systems
  • Participate in system testing, validation, deployment, and post-implementation support
  • Evaluate technical solutions and recommend improvements to system functionality, scalability, and performance
  • Provide MS SQL Server database support, including performance tuning and complex troubleshooting
  • Develop and execute advanced queries, scripts, and reports supporting operational, analytical, and mapping requirements

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is seeking two Application Systems Analyst to join our team and play a key role in supporting, enhancing, and optimizing enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical resource for assigned application and systems-development initiatives
  • Configure, maintain, and support application services, including web and database servers
  • Diagnose and resolve application and system failures
  • Provide user support for internally developed enterprise applications
  • Ensure compliance with applicable data-security requirements for internally developed applications and systems, as well as data associated with externally provided vendor applications and stored within the SHP enterprise environment
  • Participate in system testing, validation, deployment, and post-implementation support
  • Evaluate technical solutions and recommend improvements to system functionality, scalability, and performance
  • Provide Microsoft SQL Server database support, including performance tuning and complex troubleshooting
  • Develop and execute advanced queries, scripts, and reports supporting operational, analytical, and mapping requirements

Recruitment Range

Recruitment Range: $81,504-$100,000 Annually

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution AND two years of experience in business application consulting or development
  • Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution AND three years of experience in application consulting or development
  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and six years of experience in business application consulting or development
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
Position/Physical Requirements

Typical work schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
