Description of Work

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is seeking a skilled Electronics Technician to join the Logistics team.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Key Responsibilities

Performs advanced installation, diagnosis, calibration, and repair on complex electronic, electrical, and telecommunication systems.

Recruitment Range: $45,431-$46,575 Annually

Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are not required. If you possess any of the following skills or qualifications, please include them in your application:

  • Experience using standard test equipment to diagnose and repair electronic components.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic drawings and wiring diagrams.
Position/Physical Requirements

Typical work schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm

Note: Qualified recommended applicant(s) must undergo and successfully pass:

  • Criminal Background Investigation
  • Drug Screening Test

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in electronics from an appropriately accredited institution
  • AND two years of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of complex electronic systems including some responsibility for the design of electronic apparatus;
  • OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Based on the nature of work performed, may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.

Logistics Unit is responsible for managing and providing service to all law enforcement vehicles within the Department (this includes mechanical, body shop, equipment installs, etc..), managing all occupied facilities and capital improvement projects, managing and distributing the purchases of all patrol equipment and supplies other than technology products, and Managing the inventory of all equipment and supplies.
