Job summary

The North Carolina Secretary of State is seeking a Registration Services Associate in Downtown Raleigh. You will answer customer questions by phone and email, assist with business registration and annual reports, and determine name availability for new companies.

Responsibilities include processing orders, providing Notary Public, UCC and Federal Tax Lien filing information, and clear communication of regulatory requirements. Strong multitasking and data-entry skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in a government or call-center environment is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory requirements clearly.

Description of Work

Position Number: 65044600 and 65044601. Salary grade: NC08. Recruitment range: $43,500-$44,805. Work location: Secretary of State/Downtown Raleigh. The posting will close at 11:59 P.M. the night before the end date.

This position is located in the Registration Services phone unit of the Secretary of State's office. The duties and responsibilities of this position include providing information for business registration and annual report filings; determining name availability for new companies, processing custom document orders, and providing information for Notary Public Commissioning, Uniform Commercial Code and Federal Tax Liens filings. Technical and statutory information on filing procedures for the programs listed above is provided by this position. The majority of the service is provided to customers by telephone and the remainder is provided through e-mail, voice mail and written correspondence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Customer service experience in a call center
  • Excellent communication skills, i.e. drafting memos, receptionist
  • Experience in managing multiple tasks
  • Communicating statutory requirements, such as communicating laws and regulations applicable to business filing, notary public, and uniform commercial code
  • Computer proficient with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, etc.), and other Windows based applications, and data entry skills
  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
