Description of Work

Are you an accomplished project leader who thrives on turning complex initiatives into successful outcomes? The North Carolina Highway Patrol is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for establishing, monitoring, and managing scopes, costs, schedules, and contracts for capital improvement projects.
  • Manage and monitor a wide spectrum of work to include repairs, renovation, and new construction projects.
  • Manage a full design and construction process from implementation to close out with strong emphasis on maintaining project scope, budget, and schedule including cost estimating and Fiscal management of projects.
  • Exercise a high level of independent decision-making affecting many service areas, departments/units, and long-term programs and projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring efficient operations and adherence to policy and procedures as well as the coordination of resources.
  • Position does not directly supervise employees, but while managing projects requires considerable knowledge of supervisory practices and skills of other professionals, including communication skills, delegation, managing expectations, dealing effectively with difficult employees and customers.

Recruitment Range: $70,478-$115,000 Annually

  • Advanced knowledge of the principles, practices, and theories of construction methodologies, of construction management, and engineering or architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of materials, soils, foundations, construction techniques, and project management, the installation, operation, and maintenance of building systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of codes, laws and ordinances including the North Carolina State Construction Office Manual pertaining to the construction and renovation of buildings and facilities.
  • Ability to perform the appropriate design and/or review the design of consultants, and to read and interpret all related plans and specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot building systems, estimate costs, to manage and inspect construction projects, and to technically direct others and to review and evaluate their work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Typical work schedule: Monday - Friday:8:00am-5:00pm
