Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Application Support Specialist to join our customer-focused engineering culture. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the application engineering, programming, troubleshooting, start-up, and check-out of installed projects, including building automation, fire and life-safety systems.

The role emphasizes customer satisfaction, adherence to quality standards, and on-site visits with occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

• Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience.
• Basic knowledge of engineering principles related to building automation, fire alarm and/or electronic security systems.
• Basic programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems.
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude with hand and power tools.
• Frequent visits to jobsites with minimal overnight travel; valid driver’s license required.
• Proficient MS Office applications; basic networking/IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the application engineering, programming, troubleshooting, start-up, and check-out of assigned installed projects including small to medium projects that are less complex.
• Individuals work shall be in accordance with the established quality standards.
• Role is the technical support contact for our customer and aims to maximize satisfaction with installed Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation Systems.
• Ensures projects are effectively executed to budgeted cost and time schedules.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

• Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
• Basic programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
• Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
• Frequent visits to jobsites are required. Minimal overnight travel is required. Valid driver's license required.
• Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel); basic networking & IT skills (Security & Building Automation primarily).

Requirements:

Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience

Preferred Experience: (but not required):

• 1-3 years low-voltage systems project
• Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation
