Job summary

John H. Carter Company is seeking a customer-focused engineer/support professional to handle inquiries, prepare quotes, and assist with product selection for assembly and sizing. You will participate in training, support after-hours rotations, and travel as needed.

The role emphasizes building strong client relationships, timely communication, and accurate quote processing in a fast-paced industrial environment. A mechanical engineering background and CAD proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining or oil & gas industries may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience with 2D or 3D CAD drafting/design software preferred.

• Receive calls and emails from customers and respond promptly.
• Manage multiple project inquiries and quotations.
• Assist with customer application requirements for assembly, sizing and product selection.
• Attend required and preferred training.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend On-Call rotation.
• Accurately complete quotes, order entry and purchase orders.
• Build and cultivate solid relationships with customers.
• Remain alert and aware of surroundings at all times.
• Some travel may be required.
• Handle urgency and pressure for prompt, accurate results; multitask.
• Maintain regular attendance as essential.

Job description

• Receive phone calls and emails from external & internal customers which must be handled on a timely basis. Information handled will typically include RFQ’s, technical assistance/support, equipment manufacturer support, technical product support, delivery expediting, etc.


• Manage multiple project inquiries and project quotations


• Facilitate customer application requirements for their assembly, sizing and product selection


• Attend required and preferred training


• Participate in an after-hours and weekend ‘On-Call’ rotation


• Accurately complete quotes, order entry and purchase orders


• Always build and cultivate solid relationships


• Remain alert and aware of surroundings at all times, regardless of location


• Some travel may be required


• Urgency and pressure for prompt, accurate results are routine. Multi-tasking and the ability to handle and manage interruptions is expected.


• Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this position.

Qualifications

Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience
