The Application Specialist supports adult learners as they navigate the path from initial discovery through admission and the start of their academic journey.

You'll advise prospective students on admissions requirements, degree completion pathways, and next steps across partner universities.

The role combines student advising, relationship building, application management, and data-informed follow-up.

You'll develop individualized roadmaps based on each learner's goals, background, and readiness for online study.

Success requires strong organization, empathy, communication, and the ability to manage multiple student journeys simultaneously.

You'll collaborate closely with university and external partners to maintain high standards of service and operational excellence.

This is a fully remote opportunity with a direct impact on expanding access to flexible, workforce-aligned higher education.

Accountabilities
  • Guide prospective and returning adult learners through university application and admissions processes, ensuring they understand requirements, deadlines, action items, and expectations.
  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand students' educational and career goals, previous academic experience, and individual circumstances, then create clear pathways toward successful enrollment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records throughout the admissions funnel, tracking progress and proactively addressing outstanding requirements.
  • Help students assess their readiness for online coursework and connect them with appropriate academic, technical, or support resources.
  • Monitor student progress and use data to identify opportunities to improve engagement, enrollment, and conversion outcomes.
  • Protect the confidentiality and security of student information, follow applicable data-security practices, and promptly report security-related concerns.
  • Ensure institutional data used for business activities is accurate, appropriate, complete, and timely.
  • Collaborate with university partners and other external stakeholders to promote consistent best practices, excellent student service, and high-quality admissions experiences.
  • Participate in professional development, relevant conferences, and industry activities to strengthen expertise in adult learning and online higher education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with adult students in an online higher education environment.
  • Understanding of the specific challenges, motivations, and needs of adult learners pursuing degree completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work toward individual and organizational performance goals.
  • Experience using CRM, LMS, SIS, or similar technologies supporting online education and student management.
  • Knowledge of academic policies and procedures, including familiarity with FERPA and student privacy requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport with adult learners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, particularly when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment while managing multiple student cases and competing priorities.
Benefits
  • Salary range of $60,000--$65,000 per year.
  • Fully remote work flexibility.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching.
  • Generous paid time-off policy, including paid volunteer time.
  • Potential performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continued learning.
  • Mission-driven work focused on expanding access to flexible, workforce-aligned higher education for adult learners.
  • Collaborative environment that values innovation, empathy, integrity, teamwork, and individual perspectives.
