Job summary

BCforward in Newark, NJ is seeking an experienced Application Programmer III to join our team as a contract resource. The role focuses on Java application development, LLE triage, and release support, with strong Core Java expertise and OO design.

You will contribute to scalable components and services and work with Spring frameworks to deliver robust REST and SOAP services. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with J2EE, various app servers, JPA/Hibernate, and XML processing.

Qualifications

• Experience with J2EE apps and app servers (WebSphere/ WebLogic/ JBoss/ Tomcat).
• Strong Spring framework experience and REST/SOAP web services.

• Experience with distributed caching and encryption/PKI.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and services.
• Perform LLE triage and production support for stability.
• Create and review designs using patterns and UML.
• Support release activities including deployment and validation.
• Develop REST and SOAP services and web applications with Spring.
• Implement data access via JPA/Hibernate and XML processing.
• Tune performance for high-volume transactions.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Application Programmer III to join our team. The role focuses on Java application development, LLE triage and support, and release support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong Core Java expertise, robust object-oriented design skills, and the ability to design and deliver scalable components and services.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and services.
• Perform LLE triage and production support to ensure application stability.
• Create and review component designs using design patterns and UML.
• Support release activities, including deployment and post-release validation.
• Develop REST and SOAP web services and web applications using Spring frameworks.
• Implement data access using JPA/Hibernate and XML processing frameworks.
• Tune performance and profile applications for high-volume transactions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Core Java proficiency with solid object-oriented programming skills.
• Proven design expertise, including design patterns and UML, with the ability to propose new component designs.
• J2EE experience with one or more application servers and containers such as WebSphere, WebLogic, JBoss, or Apache Tomcat.
• Experience with Spring frameworks, including Core Spring, Dependency Injection, Spring Integration, and Spring AOP.
• REST and SOAP web services and web application development experience.
• JPA/Hibernate proficiency.
• Experience with distributed caching frameworks such as Ehcache or WebSphere eXtreme Scale.
• Familiarity with encryption and PKI.
• Experience with XML processing and binding frameworks such as JAXB, XStream, or StAX.

Preferred Skills:

• Hands-on UNIX/Linux experience.
• Relational database experience with Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Background building high-transaction-volume services or applications.
• Performance tuning and application profiling expertise.
• Continuous Integration experience, preferably with Jenkins or Hudson.
• Familiarity with tools such as JMeter, SoapUI, JUnit, TestNG, Dynatrace, or JProbe.
• Experience with Maven and repositories such as Nexus or Apache alternatives.
• Strong technical communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to collaborate with distributed teams across time zones and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Details:

Start month: October.

Interview process: 1-2 rounds. Video required. Glider ID verification required.

Hybrid schedule: Minimum of 3 days onsite per week.
