Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy is seeking an Application Engineer I to coordinate planning and design of control systems for HVAC projects. Responsibilities include programming, system configuration, and developing control graphics for projects of varying scales.

The role requires collaboration with vendors and reading floor plans to identify mechanical equipment, from chillers to VAVs, while applying knowledge of NEC and control architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent field experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in applications engineering with Niagara AX/N4 certification.
• Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls, BACnet, MODbus, Tridium, Distech, and Delta is a plus.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems from Unitary to Central Plants.
• Engineering skills include electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and programming.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance is desirable.
• EIT or PE license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning and design of control systems including programming and configuration.
• Work with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols and integration requirements.
• Read floor plans to identify mechanical equipment (chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, EF’s).
• Create P&ID’s based on contract drawings and develop control submittals.
• Understand wiring, installation methods, testing, and customer acceptance.
• Develop control graphics, source codes, and algorithms per project scope.
• Create guidelines, standards, and templates for typical projects.
• Maintain NEC knowledge for control system installations.

Job Summary

The Application Engineer I will be responsible to coordinate the planning and design of control systems to include programming and system configuration.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Works with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to their systems.
• Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans.
• The ability to identify mechanical equipment on drawings the following: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s, and EF’s.
• Understand basic electrical control circuits.
• Be proficient and utilize Visio and or AutoCAD.
• Understand controls networking principles.
• Display knowledge of controls hardware.
• Create P&ID’s based on contract drawings P&ID’s.
• Develop controls submittals with assistance from senior level application engineers.
• Understand simple installation methods, final inspection and testing, customer acceptance and training.
• Ability to implementation systems graphics per project scope, create control algorithms, source codes and implement graphics.
• Create guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects.
• Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) requirements for control system installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred, specifically with Niagara AX/N4 – Niagara N4 Certified.
• Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls, BACnet, MODbus, Tridium, Distech, and Delta a plus.
• Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems - Unitary Systems to Central Plants.
• Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls systems (preferably Delta, JCI or Andover).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programing, or maintenance desired.
• EIT or desire to obtain a PE license a plus.
