Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. in Chino, CA seeks an Applications Engineer to read floor plans and identify mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, and EF’s for control system design.

You will translate drawings into control concepts and work with senior engineers on submittals. The role requires 2+ years of experience in applications engineering, knowledge of HVAC control systems, and proficiency with AutoCAD/Visio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred.
• Engineering skills include electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Working knowledge of HVAC controls systems ( Delta, JCI or Andover ) recommended.
• EIT or PE license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans.
• Identify equipment on drawings: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, EF’s.
• Understand basic electrical control circuits and 24VAC power.
• Utilize Visio and/or AutoCAD for project drawings.
• Develop control submittals with senior engineers’ assistance.
• Create P&ID’s based on contract drawings.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans.
• The ability to identify mechanical equipment on drawings the following: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s, and EF’s.
• Understand basic electrical control circuits including 24VAC power and controller input/outputs.
• Be proficient and utilize Visio and or AutoCAD.
• Understand simple controls networking principles.
• Display knowledge of controls hardware
• Create P&ID’s based on contract drawings P&ID’s
• Develop controls submittals with assistance from senior level application engineers.
• Understand simple installation methods.
• Ability to implementation systems graphics per project scope
• Create guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects.
• Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) requirements for control system installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred.
• Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls systems (preferably Delta, JCI or Andover)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programing, or maintenance desired.
• EIT or desire to obtain a PE license a plus.

Compensation Range: $35 - $40 per hour
