Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. in Las Vegas, NV seeks an Application Engineer I to coordinate the planning and design of building control systems, including programming and system configuration.

You will collaborate with equipment vendors, read floor plans to identify mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, AHUs, VAVs, and EF units, and contribute to submittals, graphics, and commissioning per project scope. This role requires knowledge of DDC/BDCs, BACnet, MODbus, and NEC requirements, plus

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred, specifically with Niagara AX/N4 – Niagara N4 Certified.
• Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls, BACnet, MODbus, Tridium, Distech, and Delta a plus.
• Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems - Unitary Systems to Central Plants.
• Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls systems (preferably Delta, JCI or Andover).
• EIT or desire to obtain a PE license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans; identify equipment on drawings (Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHUs, VAVs, EF).
• Understand basic electrical control circuits; utilize Visio and AutoCAD.
• Create P&IDs based on contract drawings; develop control submittals with assistance from senior engineers.
• Understand simple installation methods, final inspection and testing, customer acceptance and training.
• Implement system graphics per project scope, create control algorithms and source codes, and implement graphics.
• Create guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects; knowledge of NEC requirements.

Job Summary

The Application Engineer I will be responsible to coordinate the planning and design of control systems to include programming and system configuration.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Works with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to their systems.
• Read and identify mechanical equipment on floor plans
• The ability to identify mechanical equipment on drawings the following: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s, and EF’s.
• Understand basic electrical control circuits,
• Be proficient and utilize Visio and or AutoCAD.
• Understand controls networking principles.
• Display knowledge of controls hardware
• Create P&ID’s based on contract drawings P&ID’s
• Develop controls submittals with assistance from senior level application engineers.
• Understand simple installation methods, final inspection and testing, customer acceptance and training.
• Ability to implementation systems graphics per project scope, create control algorithms, source codes and implement graphics.
• Create guidelines, standards and templates for typical projects.
• Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) requirements for control system installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering preferred, specifically with Niagara AX/N4 – Niagara N4 Certified.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programing, or maintenance desired.
• EIT or desire to obtain a PE license a plus.
