Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. is seeking an Application Engineer II to join our on-site team in Fresno, CA. The role focuses on identifying MEP systems from drawings and developing sequences of operations for complex HVAC controls projects.

You will design electrical circuits for control systems, evaluate hardware options, and collaborate with electricians to ensure proper installation. A strong background in HVAC controls and programming is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent field experience.
• 4+ years in relevant roles, with ≥2 years in applications engineering.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance.
• Working knowledge of at least two HVAC control systems (Distech, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls or Delta)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify MEP systems on drawings.
• Understand the intent of mechanical equipment (Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, EF’s).
• Develop written sequence of operations based on drawings or site conditions.
• Design complex electrical circuits (VFDs, Motor Starters, Transducers, Actuators, Sensors, Relay Logic).
• Visio and AutoCAD knowledge.
• Advanced knowledge of controls hardware.
• Select control hardware based on equipment requirements.
• Discover new control technologies to enhance offerings.
• Create P&ID’s based on mechanical equipment only.
• Develop controls submittals and O&M packages.
• Identify potential scopes of work for controls implementation.
• Interact with field electricians and specify installation methods.
• Create control panel construction schedules and maintain inventory.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify MEP systems on drawings.
• Understand the intent of individual mechanical equipment such as: Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s, EF’s.
• Develop written sequence of operations based on mechanical drawings or real world site conditions.
• Design complex electrical circuits such as: VFD’s, Motor Starters, Transducers, Actuators, Sensors, and Relay Logic.

• Advanced knowledge of controls hardware.

Job Specifications (incl. Education requirements, minimal experience, computer skills required, etc.)

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 4+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering.
• Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, and computer programming.
• Working knowledge of at least two HVAC controls systems (preferably Distech, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls or Delta)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programing, or maintenance desired.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $42 - $48 per hour
