Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, a leading LTL carrier, seeks an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers, design complex enterprise solutions, and deliver code while aligning with IT architecture standards. This role emphasizes mentorship, architectural oversight, and hands-on development.

The position requires strong experience in RPG, Java, SQL, Angular, and APIs, with proven leadership and communication skills, contributing to OD’s mission to keep promises across 260+

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in software development
• 3 years of experience in database technologies
• 5 years of experience on SDLC / development life cycles
• 3 years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and high-level design
• Experience in RPG, Java, SQL, Angular, APIs design and implementation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation on business requirements and functional specifications; support project lifecycle with leadership input
• Review development or modification of highly complex enterprise software solutions
• Balance design/mentorship/leadership with hands-on code delivery (~50/50)
• Develop and validate complex software designs, ensuring adherence to architecture standards
• Provide input on options, risks, costs and benefits for software solution designs
• Mentor others and contribute to technical direction and governance
