Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers, design high-level solutions, and ensure alignment with IT standards. This role combines design leadership with hands-on coding across RPG, Java, SQL, APIs, and modern frameworks.

You will mentor teams, collaborate with architects and business users, and drive delivery of complex enterprise applications within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5 years software development experience.
• 3 years in database technologies.
• 5 years experience on SDLC.
• 3 years in systems analysis.
• Experience with RPG, Java, SQL, Angular, APIs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation on business requirements and functional specifications; supports project lifecycle with leadership input.
• Reviews development/modification of highly complex enterprise software solutions.
• 50/50 role: design/mentorship/leadership vs. hands-on coding.
• Develops and validates highly complex software design prototypes; ensures adherence to architecture standards.
• Contributes to and guides the design and coding of component-based applications.
