Job summary

The Blood Connection, Incorporated is seeking an Apheresis Technician to screen and collect blood from diverse donors, including scheduling and managing collections with automated systems. This role emphasizes donor safety, accurate paperwork, and post-phlebotomy care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include donor screening, venipuncture, equipment setup, and QC documentation, with opportunities for leadership and team collaboration. Weekend shifts are possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Apheresis or plasma collection experience preferred or 3+ years in a related clinical setting.
• Valid Driver’s License with no major infractions.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow SOP in a heavily FDA regulated environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Schedule donors to meet inventory needs for collections.
• Screen donors via medical history, mini-physical, and testing results.
• Perform donor health assessments and venipuncture.
• Set up and prime automated collection systems and ensure donor safety.
• Maintain documentation, QC, run sheets, and device logs.
• Provide post-phlebotomy care and donor concerns support.
• Ensure cleanliness, stocking, and equipment readiness.
• Lead or support Team Leader duties and cross-functional collaboration.
• Greet donors, express appreciation, and maintain professional presence.
• Participate in blood drives and other events.
