Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Apheresis Nurse to provide expert, evidence-based care for patients undergoing apheresis procedures in ambulatory and inpatient settings. You will participate in on-call coverage, coordinate care, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

The role requires an Illinois RN license, a BSN, and current BLS certification, with strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to train and support less experienced staff.

Qualifications

• RN license in Illinois is required.
• BSN degree required.
• Current BLS CPR certification.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team and manage on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Performs emergent or scheduled urgent procedures during on-call hours (8pm-7:30a, weekends and holidays).
• Provide on-call coverage as scheduled.
• Perform apheresis procedures in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
• Assess patients pre-, during-, and post-procedures for complications and escalate care as needed.
• Deliver evidence-based, safe, and timely care.
• Document all procedure information in Epic.
• Ensure all consents and education are completed prior to procedures.
• Maintain equipment maintenance and disinfect room/surfaces and equipment.
• Assist with inventory control and stocking of supplies.
• Complete daily tasks in a timely manner and act as a resource for staff.
• Assist with training of newer staff.
• Follow SOPs and regulatory requirements for procedures and trials.
