Job summary

Columbia Choice Apartments in Columbia, MD is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. The role covers HVAC, plumbing, appliance repair, electrical troubleshooting, and make‑ready work to support a high-quality living environment.

You will complete service requests, troubleshoot systems, handle apartment turns, and maintain common areas while using mobile maintenance software. Weekend/on‑call availability and strong communication with teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in apartment maintenance across multiple trades is preferred.
• EPA certification is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service requests and repairs in occupied apartments.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, appliances, electrical components, and fixtures.
• Perform turn/turn‑over work and make‑ready tasks.
• Maintain common areas and building systems.
• Document work orders accurately using mobile software.
• participate in on‑call rotation and respond to urgent issues.
• Communicate effectively with maintenance and office teams.

Columbia Choice Apartments is seeking an experienced, skilled Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team at our apartment community in Columbia, Maryland.

We're looking for a dependable, hands‑on technician with strong all‑around apartment maintenance experience – including HVAC, plumbing, appliance repair, electrical troubleshooting, and make‑ready work.

What You'll Do

• Complete service requests and maintenance repairs in occupied apartment homes
• Troubleshoot and repair:
  • HVAC systems
  • Plumbing issues
  • Appliances
  • Electrical components
  • Fixtures and hardware
• Perform apartment turns and make‑ready work
• Maintain common areas, grounds, and building systems
• Complete work orders accurately and efficiently using mobile maintenance software
• Participate in emergency on‑call rotation and respond to urgent maintenance issues when scheduled
• Work independently while maintaining strong communication with the maintenance and office teams

What We're Looking For

• Previous apartment maintenance experience strongly preferred
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills across multiple trades
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, appliance repair, electrical, and general maintenance
• EPA Certification preferred
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage priorities independently
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Reliable, professional, and team‑oriented attitude
• Ability to use mobile apps/work order systems on a smartphone during scheduled shifts
• Valid driver's license preferred
• Weekend and on‑call availability required
