Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor for a first-shift, on-site role in Bethesda, MD. The position oversees multiple entities, manages a high-volume AP team, and acts as Workday Financials SME to drive automation and process improvements.

You will lead AP staff, ensure accurate vendor payments, and support month-end/year-end close with robust internal controls. Strong Excel and ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in AP management or equivalent leadership.
• Experience supervising 6+ staff in AP or related function.
• Experience handling 300+ invoices per week across multi-entity environments.
• Hands-on AP operations in a multi-company setting.
• Strong knowledge of Workday Financials and ERP implementations.
• Advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivots, VLOOKUP, and reporting.
• Knowledge of multi-state sales/use tax and 1099 reporting.
• Ability to prepare management reports and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily AP operations across multiple companies in a high-volume environment.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop AP staff to meet goals and quality standards.
• Manage invoice processing, vendor payments, ACH, wires, and reimbursements.
• Ensure proper accounting methods and strong internal controls.
• Provide ongoing training and professional development to AP staff.
• Lead projects to automate AP workflows and OCR processing.
• Prepare management reports and KPIs for AP operations.
• Support month-end and year-end close with reconciliations and accruals.
• Oversee vendor maintenance and 1099 reporting.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Operations on Workday enhancements.
