Core Talent Services in Birmingham, AL is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist who will own the full AP function in a direct-hire, in-office role.

You will manage vendor setup, three-way match, payment runs, and AP close, building processes and serving as the go-to resource for all payables-related activities within the organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full-cycle accounts payable experience required.
• Experience functioning as the sole or primary AP professional in an organization preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting software – QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, SAP or comparable ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills – VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and basic data management.
• Strong understanding of AP best practices including three-way match, approval workflows, and payment controls.
• Experience preparing and filing 1099 forms.
• Ability to manage high invoice volumes accurately and independently with minimal supervision.
• Higher level of integrity and discretion handling sensitive financial information.

Responsibilities

• Full-cycle accounts payable processing—from invoice receipt to payment execution with accuracy.
• Vendor setup, maintenance, and relationship management; primary AP contact.
• Three-way match of POs, receiving docs, and vendor invoices before payment.
• Process payment runs (checks, ACH, wire) with proper authorization.
• Vendor statement reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.
• Month-end AP close including accruals and aging review.
• 1099 preparation and vendor tax compliance.
