Job summary

Anthropic Limited’s Life Sciences team seeks a Research Scientist with deep antibody process development expertise for our on-site Bay Area laboratory. You will design and execute expression, purification, and analytics workflows, translating AI-driven hypotheses into robust experimental data.

You will build scalable workflows, coordinate tech transfer with contract manufacturers, and maintain rigorous batch documentation while collaborating with AI researchers and engineers.

Qualifications

• PhD in biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in antibody or recombinant protein process development and manufacturing with IND-enabling material.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity in a rapidly evolving research environment.
• Strong independent work style and excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and run expression and purification processes for antibodies and other recombinant proteins end to end.
• Characterize products with analytical panels (SEC, CE-SDS, icIEF, LC-MS, DLS, stability, endotoxin, binding kinetics).
• Build laboratory infrastructure and scalable workflows from plate-based to gram-quantities lead.
• Evaluate AI-designed antibodies for manufacturability and drive experimental readouts.
• Plan CMC path toward IND-enabling studies and coordinate tech transfer with external CMOs.
• Ensure high-quality batch records, methods, raw data, and failure analysis.
• Communicate findings clearly to biology, AI research, and life sciences teams.
