Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Care Assistant/Unit Administrative Assistant (PCA/UAA) to support an interprofessional team in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care. You will assist with ADLs, communicate with physicians and patients, and help with unit operations under a licensed nurse supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• 18 months CNA/CMA/PCA experience.
• 1 year secretarial/office experience or 6 months internal cross-training within Houston Methodist.
• Prior health care experience and/or medical terminology preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming unit calls and transfers; provide directions and information to patients and visitors.
• Communicates with physicians, staff, and patients in a clear, professional manner.
• Support throughput and coordination of patient care activities across the unit.
• Assist with bed management, calls to physicians, and coordination with Operations Administrator.
