Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Care Assistant/Unit Administrative Assistant (PCA/UAA) to support the interprofessional team in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care. The role performs basic ADL tasks under a licensed nurse and communicates with patients, families and staff with a customer-service focus.

Responsibilities include coordinating unit workflow, answering calls, bed management and assisting with documentation and safety/compliance requirements, in alignment with ICARE

Qualifications

• Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job.
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English for safety.
• Ability to communicate with patients, families and co-workers professionally.
• Performs basic ADL care within unit-defined limits and scope.
• Operates and troubleshoots office equipment and PC devices.
• Proficient computer application skills.

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming calls and transfers; greets patients and visitors.
• Communicates clearly with the interprofessional team for patient care.
• Contributes to improving department engagement and accountability.
• Provides direct patient care under RN supervision and document care.
• Organizes unit workflow and prioritizes multiple ongoing tasks.
