Job description

Job Summary

Charles River Laboratories (CRL) is seeking an Animal Technician to join our Integrated Toxicology (ITox) team at the Kansas City (CR-KAN) Site. This site bridges CRL’s Discovery and Safety Assessment units, incorporating automation for rapid study results. The technician will learn basic skills including animal handling, housing, feeding, data collection, and biological specimen collection.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure animal welfare and humane care using positive interactions.
  • Perform animal handling, housing, feeding, data collection, dosing, euthanasia, and specimen collection as trained.
  • Document and verify data accurately.
  • Maintain instrumentation and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $20/hour, variable based on experience and location.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • No experience required; animal handling experience is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, manage multiple tasks, and learn computer systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and on short notice.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform laboratory procedures involving standing, sitting, and safety equipment usage.
  • Work involves exposure to animals, chemicals, biological hazards, and noise.
Additional Information:

This position may require overtime, weekend, holiday, and after-hours shifts.
