The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Technician I, Remote Care to join our team in Sylmar, CA, within our Cardiac Rhythm Management division.

As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.

We seek an experienced, high-caliber Remote Care Technician I. Working under close supervision and following established procedures, you will handle technical and informational inquiries. The role involves working in a call center environment, exercising basic customer service skills to respond to remote patient monitoring inquiries from physicians, healthcare professionals, field staff, and patients. You will respond accurately, promptly, and effectively, providing the basic clinical and technical interface between patients, the remote care medical community, and internal departments.

What You’ll Work On
  • Answer inquiries regarding technical issues and/or complaints, including adverse events, by collecting relevant information from callers.
  • Triages calls and forwards them to appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Assist with website navigation, troubleshooting, patient monitor setup, and product information related to remote care products; refer complex issues to senior staff.
  • Stay informed about remote care advancements within SJM and the industry.
  • On a 24-hour rotating basis, follow protocols to guide patients in transmitting data from implantable cardiac devices, assisting with automatic or manual transmissions.
  • Guide patients in installing and troubleshooting transmitter equipment.
  • Document patient complaints and technical issues through reports and forward them accordingly.
  • Assist customers with navigating the Merlin.net website and respond to password reset requests.
  • Provide alternative data transmission options when servers or IT connections are down.
  • Refer implantable device issues to Technical Services.
  • Resolve or facilitate resolution of problems, identifying causes to prevent recurrence.
  • Complete required trainings and certifications.

This is a fully onsite role.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with related experience or training.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and diverse environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.
  • Reliable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in customer service, product support, IT, telecommunications, or medical device technical support.
  • Experience working in a cross-division business environment.
