Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Boston, MA seeks an experienced Facility Supervisor to join the CRADL Insourcing Solutions team. Lead daily husbandry and study support, manage staff, and ensure client needs are met with high-quality care.

In this role you will oversee scheduling, onboarding, QA inspections, welfare investigations, and housing/supply coordination to maintain safe, compliant animal facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor's degree in animal or life sciences is preferred.
• Minimum four years in a laboratory animal facility with two years of supervisory or lead technician experience.
• LATG certification from AALAS or ICPM CS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, create, assign, and monitor staff schedules for daily husbandry and study support; cover weekends, holidays and on-call.
• Supervise and develop animal care and support staff including hiring, onboarding and performance management.
• Monitor staff performance, report health concerns, ensure client needs are met.
• Communicate with clients, handle feedback, and manage multiple tasks to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide husbandry or technical backup on dosing, injections, collections as needed.
• Inspect animal housing systems and coordinate movement of animals; assign housing locations.
• Conduct QA inspections of holding and support facilities for health, sanitation, and security.
• Investigate welfare concerns and implement mitigations.
• Place and receive orders, manage supplies/animals, and oversee space usage.
• Contribute to development and implementation of CRADL policies and SOPs.

Education

High school diploma or GED
