Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support OR equipment and supplies across multiple anesthesia areas.

The role emphasizes patient readiness and collaboration with the anesthesia team to ensure smooth procedure flow. Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, assistance before procedures, and rapid troubleshooting with Biomedical Engineering.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED (Required).
• Associates degree in sciences preferred.
• Previous operating room experience or related healthcare experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• ASATT certification preferred.
• Prior anesthesia technician work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and aseptic practice preferred.
• Ability to read and write in English to clearly communicate and perform essential job duties.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a stressful environment.
• Ability to set priorities and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other members of the health care team.

Responsibilities

• Consults OR schedule to determine supply and equipment needs.
• Prepares and provides support for anesthesia related equipment and supplies in all anesthetic areas (Main OR, Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, MRI, CT and Procedure Suites).
• Maintains and supports anesthesia machines, monitors, pumps, infusion equipment, gas cylinders, lab testing equipment and related hardware.
• Assists anesthesia attending with preparing patients for procedures.
• Assists with movement of equipment and supplies to ensure room turnover and readiness.
• Maintains immediate availability to assist in routine and emergency procedures as needed.
• Troubleshoots equipment and coordinates with Biomedical Engineering and Leadership to resolve issues.
• Performs with a service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork.
• Demonstrates knowledge of disinfection and sterilization protocols as required.
