Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to join the Anesthesia Support team. This role collaborates with anesthesiologists, CRNAs and perioperative staff to ensure equipment, supplies and technology are ready for each case, while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

The position emphasizes technical proficiency with anesthesia equipment, troubleshooting, and contributing to safe, efficient perioperative care in a high‑acuity setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technician program is required or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• For candidates with a High School diploma/GED, six months of OR experience is preferred; for Trainee, one year of OR experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with invasive and non‑invasive monitoring equipment and support the anesthesia care team during patient procedures.
• Prepare fluids, equipment, and clinical setups while maintaining sterile technique during line placement.
• Set up anesthesia equipment, perform 12‑point inspections, and support Quality Assurance for anesthesia equipment.
• Maintain OR readiness by restocking supplies and ensuring proper equipment availability for cases.
• Follow infection prevention practices and safety protocols in the perioperative environment.
