Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support the anesthesia team by setting up, calibrating and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment and assisting with patient monitoring during procedures. The role ensures equipment is ready, sterile, and safe for use in the OR.

Responsibilities include assisting with invasive and non-invasive monitoring, maintaining equipment, and supporting the anesthesia care team throughout induction, maintenance and extubation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technician program.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• If graduated from the program: no prior experience required; Trainee: one year OR experience with direct patient care/equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Anesthesiologist or CRNA with invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices and patient positioning/transport.
• Performs quality control and troubleshooting on anesthesia equipment; maintains 12-point inspection and checks sterility and labeling of fluids/medications.
• Sets up and cleans anesthesia equipment; ensures sterile technique and proper documentation; restocks supplies and returns unused equipment.

Education

Graduation from an accredited Anesthesia Technician program (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience)
