Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Anesthesia Technician to support the operating room team. You will assist with stocking supplies, organize inventory, and ensure effective communication among nurses, physicians, and departments in a fast-paced surgical environment.

The role requires attention to detail, experience in a hospital setting, and a willingness to obtain BLS within 30 days. This position emphasizes patient safety, procedural accuracy, and teamwork across the anesthesia service line.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Previous experience in hospital setting.
• Knowledge of growth and development as pertinent to job duties.
• BLS Certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inventory management, ordering and stocking of anesthesia supplies.
• Order Anesthesia supplies from storeroom daily
• Stock Anesthesia supplies in Operating Rooms daily
• Stock medications in Pyxis machines for pharmacy as needed
• Clean and stock in Operating Rooms between cases
• Report equipment problems to Biomed and Anesthesia as needed. Assist in facilitating loaner equipment as necessary
• Assist in evaluation of new equipment and supplies
• Assist Anesthesia with anesthesia procedures as needed ex: difficult airway, arterial lines, nerve blocks
• Orient new staff and students to anesthesia supplies and equipment
• Communicate regularly with Anesthesia Charge provider about changes in supplies, medications, equipment, back orders, substitutions
• Maintain established department, unit, and hospital policies, procedures, and objectives regarding performance improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control
• Assists in housekeeping duties and cleanliness of department as directed to insure safe patient environment
• Assists in transportation of patients when directed, maintaining age appropriate safety measures
• Performs other duties as assigned
