Job summary

Schwarzman Animal Medical Center seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Anesthesia at 510 East 62nd Street, NYC. The role supports anesthesiologists across AMC services, with an 8.75‑shift schedule totaling 70 hours per two weeks.

Expect to assist in low, high‑risk and emergent cases and mentor junior staff. Requires NYS Veterinary Technician license, at least one year of clinical experience, and the ability to work as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited school.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
• New York State Veterinary Technician license or permit.
• Animal-handling experience and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Motivation to advance anesthesia skills through mentorship and training.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia support for all AMC services.
• Handle low- to high-risk anesthesia, including specialized needs (MRI/CT/fluoroscopy, airway procedures).
• Teach learners at all levels (starting staff, interns, residents).
• Answer anesthesia questions across departments; refer to anesthesiologists when needed.
• Troubleshoot and maintain surgical and anesthetic equipment.
• Participate in overnight anesthesia on-call rotation.
• Work with minimal supervision and adhere to protocols.
• Mentor and train LVTs as needed.
