Job summary

Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor is seeking a dedicated laboratory support specialist to manage Anatomic Pathology specimen workflow, perform order entry into the Pathology LIS, and ensure quality control and timely triage of cases. You will maintain equipment, track inventories, and support a range of staining, sectioning and slide preparation tasks in a busy lab.

This full-time, evening-shift position involves rotating weekends and on-call duties, requires standing and light lifting, and offers

Qualifications

High school diploma required.
Frequent standing and walking; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Travel between sites may be required.

Responsibilities

Receive and reconcile Anatomic Pathology specimens for order entry, including rejection of specimens.
Perform order entry of all Anatomic Pathology specimens into Pathology LIS.
Perform problem solving of specimens, including extensive phone triage.
Maintain QC logs for problem cases.
Triage Anatomic Pathology specimens for various laboratories.
Notify resident/staff of specimens requiring immediate attention.
Prepare cases for grossing/make cassettes.
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance for lab instrumentation.
