Job summary

Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor seeks a full-time Histology Technician to support tissue processing, staining and slide preparation in a high-volume academic pathology lab. You will perform gross examination, embedding, microtomy and quality control, while maintaining strict confidentiality and safety standards.

Applicants should have an associate degree or equivalent, histology lab experience, and strong communication skills; ASCP HT/HTL is a plus.

Qualifications

Education: Associate degree, vocational training, or a high school diploma with related work experience.
Histology laboratory experience required.
Professional and collegial communication skills in an academic team environment.
Ability to receive and adapt quickly to change.

Responsibilities

Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by performing routine procedures.
Handles day-to-day tasks of preparing and staining tissue, with close attention to equipment and detail.
Perform gross examination of simple biopsies, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, cover slipping and frozen sectioning in a high-volume academic environment.
Maintain accurate records of quality assurance and quality control.
Maintain all laboratory equipment safely and efficiently, following established guidelines.
Perform specimen accessioning, including all manual and computerized data entry.
