Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited residency program in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Georgia and ongoing CME maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Examine and interpret surgical pathology specimens and provide accurate and timely diagnostic reports.
• Evaluate cytology specimens and provide diagnostic consultation as appropriate.
• Perform gross and microscopic examinations of tissue specimens.
• Utilize ancillary testing including immunohistochemistry, molecular diagnostics, and special stains.
• Consult with physicians regarding pathology findings and patient management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinical conferences.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and laboratory standards.
• Maintain accurate medical records and pathology documentation.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and laboratory performance metrics.
• Participate in on-call coverage and departmental service responsibilities.
• Engage in education and training of medical students, residents, fellows, and staff.
• Engage in scholarly, research, and academic activities as appropriate.
