Job summary

Welldoc Inc is seeking a data modeling and analytics expert to design and own the semantic layer powering BI dashboards and AI-driven applications. You’ll shape the data model end-to-end, collaborate with analysts and engineers, and drive data governance and standards across the team.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders to translate questions into reusable metrics, improve performance, and enable analytics and AI tooling across Welldoc’s platforms.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years designing and building data models and transformations for analytics.
• 3+ years of hands-on Databricks experience including Unity Catalog and Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture.
• Hands-on experience building a semantic or metrics layer (Databricks metric views preferred).
• Advanced SQL, Python, and Git-based development workflows.
• Able to translate ambiguous business needs into concrete data models and metrics.
• Clear written and verbal communication with non-technical audiences.
• Ownership mindset and proactive problem-solver.
• Experience with Power BI downstream of semantic layer (preferred).
• Experience preparing data for AI/BI tools (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Semantic layer: design and build our consumption layer using Databricks Unity Catalog metric views.
• The data model: evaluate current Silver/Gold structures and lead buildout of the new model for usability, performance, and scale.
• Translate business questions into well-scoped technical requirements with analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders.
• BI and AI consumption: ensure layer serves Power BI, self-service analytics, and AI tools like Databricks Genie and LLM apps.
• Standards and governance: establish modeling conventions, data quality checks, and metric definitions with Data Governance Council.
• Engineering rigor: bring version control, testing, modular design, and automation to analytics workflows.
• Tooling: evaluate new tools and features and recommend adoption.
• Troubleshooting: diagnose data issues and explain root causes to non-technical stakeholders.
